Hey Bloggers, Last week and this week for reading we have been reading a book called Building for the future.It was about Samoan houses getting hit by a tsunami, So after we read the whole story we had to find a way too make a house that can stand a natural disaster.I made my fale and a house on tinkercad with a sea wall so that when there is a tsunami my fale and house can have a better chance at surviving.

Art

ART

Hey bloggers, last week Hauraki started to plan our art for the art show. For our art show we are painting New Zealand birds and painting them with water paint and painting it on water strength cartridge paper. I drew a Tui and a Pukeko and the colours I used were blue for the background, green and brown for the trees, light green and a shade of dark green for the grass, black, red and blue for the Pukeko, black, white, brown, greenish, blueish for the Tui. First step, we started to draw up our bird and started planing. The next step after we planed our teacher gave us a big water strength cartridge paper for our good copy for the art show. The third step, we drew up what we did in our art book onto the good copy. Finally we painted it with water paint and went over the layers so that there would be no white spots then we could put it up in the hall for the art show. 

I liked how I did two bird instead of one. I do not like how I painted over some of my drawing lines. I think that I could have not painted over my drawing lines and I think that I could draw my birds bigger but overall I like my art.

Yesterday Mr Riceman came to talk to us about bulling and what to do if you see bulling.

First of all we watched two videos from Australia that was about bulling and both of them were similar to each other. After the videos we had to do a document that was about emotions from A-Z. We had to try to find an emotion that started with every letter. A couple of minutes later Mr Riceman showed us this website that is is called Word Art. On Word Art you make what is called a word cloud and you can change the shapes, change the background, change the font and change the font colour.

ANZAC INFORMATION

This week we have been learning information, reading books and discussing Anzac Day in our class.Our class put some crosses outside with names on for the soldiers from the New Zealand and Australia that risk there lives at war for us.I know that Anzac stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corp.
I know that New Zealand Soldiers saved Le Quesnoy in France.
I know that the Australia and New Zealand soldiers risk there lives to save our country.
When we were placing the crosses outside we also read a story, did some maths activities about Anzac and talked about all the wars that has happened.

Swimming

Hello bloggers, this term the middle school and the seniors have been swimming at Cameron pools and have been swimming in our school pool. We go to Cameron pools every Tuesday and Thursday my instructor is Sam and we swim in the school pool every Wednesday and Friday. We have been learning how to do free style, back stroke, and how to rotate on our back when we need to breath.

Show not tell, setting writing
This week we are working on using descriptive language by sharing our writing straight onto our blog.  The challenge we have is to describe a place using only six sentences.  After reading the description you need to guess the place that has been described. It would really help if you say what clues helped you come to this conclusion.

Hello bloggers I am back and Welcome to 2018 Learning Journey and it has all ready been three weeks.This week the year sixes made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about how we look after our Chromebook.
